Launch Celebration! Win a Crit from an Agent--or an ARC! (Lots up for grabs!)

It's our launch week--and you know what that means? It's time for a CELEBRATION! Yep. We're celebrating our launch with some fabulous treats for our new blog friends.

Here's what you can enter to win:

Agent Critiques from two of our FAVORITE Agents

Agent Sarah LaPolla from Curtis Brown LTD is offering a QUERY CRITIQUE!

Sarah LaPolla is an associate agent at Curtis Brown, Ltd. and has an MFA in creative nonfiction from The New School. She represents a wide range of YA, including contemporary/realistic fiction, mystery, and light fantasy. She would love to see more magical realism, horror, and thriller in her slush pile, and is drawn to edgy/dark stories, engaging narrators, and strong female protagonists. She is also open to the occasional Middle Grade submission if the concept is strong and original.

Sarah has a literary blog, Glass Cases (http://bigglasscases.blogspot.com) and is active on Twitter at @sarahlapolla.

Agent Vickie Motter from Andrea Hurst & Associates is offering a FIVE PAGE CRITIQUE! (Winner should also submit a brief synopsis of the work.)

Vickie, literary agent, has a BA in English Literature from Western Washington University. She loves all things weird, fantastical, morbid, and romantic. She's always reading and looking for books that transport her to new lands and allow the imagination to run rampant. She has a special love of unique plots, dark themes, strong characters, an engaging voice, and witty humor. She accepts almost every genre of YA. However, a few genres she does not accept are: time travel, superheroes, low fantasy (in which our world is the primary world and the protagonist is transported to a secondary world, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe style).

Her blog, covering all issues of publishing and giving valuable advice to new and seasoned authors, can be found at: navigatingtheslushpile.blogspot.com. Vickie's also on twitter, @vickie_motter.

ARCs and AMAZING Books
(If you win, all we ask is that you spread the word about anything and everything you enjoyed about the book!)

ARC of Shatter Me by Tahera Mafi
Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days. The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

ARC of The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
It happens at the start of every November: the Scorpio Races. Riders attempt to keep hold of their water horses long enough to make it to the finish line. Some riders live. Others die.

At age nineteen, Sean Kendrick is the returning champion. He is a young man of few words, and if he has any fears, he keeps them buried deep, where no one else can see them.

Puck Connolly is different. She never meant to ride in the Scorpio Races. But fate hasn’t given her much of a chance. So she enters the competition — the first girl ever to do so. She is in no way prepared for what is going to happen.

ARC of Legend by Marie Lu
What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic's wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic's highest military circles. Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country's most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.

From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths - until the day June's brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family's survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias's death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.

ARC of Crossed (Matched #2) by Ally Condie
In search of a future that may not exist and faced with the decision of who to share it with, Cassia journeys to the Outer Provinces in pursuit of Ky - taken by the Society to his certain death - only to find that he has escaped, leaving a series of clues in his wake.

Cassia's quest leads her to question much of what she holds dear, even as she finds glimmers of a different life across the border. But as Cassia nears resolve and certainty about her future with Ky, an invitation for rebellion, an unexpected betrayal, and a surprise visit from Xander - who may hold the key to the uprising and, still, to Cassia's heart - change the game once again. Nothing is as expected on the edge of Society, where crosses and double crosses make the path more twisted than ever.

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
(Finished copy, donated by the fabulous Diana Fox, of Fox Literary Agency)
Mara Dyer doesn't think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.

It can.

She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed.

There is.

She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love.

She's wrong.

Fateful by Claudia Gray
(Finished copy, also donated by the fabulous Diana Fox, of Fox Literary Agency!)
It's about a servant girl named Tess in 1912, who wants to escape from the house where she works, and most particularly the lecherous young lord of the manor. But that's not her biggest problem. While on a voyage to America, where she plans to escape and start a new life, she meets Alec, who's ruggedly handsome, fabulously wealthy, intelligent and yet so clearly troubled that she'd rather not fall for him, but she does. That also is not her biggest problem. Alec, it turns out, is a werewolf ... one cursed to change every night, unless and until he surrenders his independence and joins the Brotherhood, a pack of violently misogynistic werewolves who have been tracking him for months. You'd think that would be their biggest problem, wouldn't you?

But no. Their biggest problem -- though they don't know it yet -- is that they're aboard the RMS Titanic.
