Comment of the Week

Each Thursday we ask you a question, and on Saturday we pick the author of our favorite answer to win a prize from THE VAULT as a thank you for participating.

This was a tough decision because everyone picked such a worthy villain to highlight. But this week's winner, who told us about her favorite YA villain, is:

Katy Upperman

Here is Katy's fabulous comment:

My favorite YA villain is crazy-obsessive Ty from Lucy Christopher's STOLEN. He is every shade of gray, and he gave me a severe case of Stockholm Syndrome. He kidnaps a girl, drags her to the Australian Outback, and holds her there against her will, but I kind of found myself rooting for him, and his "relationship" with Gemma. That's real proof that Ty is layered and sympathetic and damaged and *incredibly* effective. Also, proof of Lucy Christopher's amazing writing.

I've been a huge advocate of this book so I'm probably biased here, but the genius in Ty's villainy is that you do root for him in the end. This, in turn, makes you feel totally creepy and filled with all seven layers of wrong. Congratulations Katy! Shoot us an e-mail at yaconfidential [at] gmail [dot] com and tell us which prize from the Vault you would like!

Thank you to everyone who commented. Come back next Thursday for another chance to win!
