Comment of the Week

Each Thursday we ask a question and invite you to answer for a chance to win something from The Vault!

It's also where I keep my old Pez collection.
No, it's not a Pez Dispenser collection.
I just collect the candies.
Every Saturday we choose our favorite comment and send you the Vault item of your choice!

This week we asked:

What's one common YA trend you still enjoy reading?

And our winner this week is *drum roll, please*:

Christina Franke!
Dystopian!
Actually, I pretty much still enjoy reading any trend. Sure, things have been done to death, but I won't give up on anything completely, since good stuff is still being done.
Examples of overdone topics being done just right imo:
  • Dystopias: Starters - Lissa Price; Pure - Julianna Baggott
  • Vampires: The Immortal Rules - Julie Kagawa
  • Fairy Tale Retellings: Shadows on the Moon - Zoe Marriott
  • Instalove: Spellbound - Cara Lynn Shultz
  • Love Triangles: Prized - Caragh O'Brien
  • Road Trips: Kiss the Morning Star - Elissa Janine Hoole
  • Poetry: Love & Leftovers - Sarah Tregay
  • Witches: Ordinary Magic - Caitlen Rubino-Broadway (reading now - so cute!)
  • Retellings: New Girl - Paige Harbison
  • Prom: Ditched - Robin Mellom
  • Fantasy w/ a Kickass Heroine: Grave Mercy - Robin LaFevers (I will never tire of this trend)
I won't give up on any of these guys, although instalove is definitely closest. It can be done well, but that's rare.

Christina cheated by choosing ALL THE TRENDS but still won us over with cold, hard examples for each.  Well done, Christina! Get in touch so we can unleash some awesome Vault action! (I honestly don't know what that means.)
